ELECTORAL AREA “P”, LIONS HEAD WILDFIRE

EVACUATION ALERT

An Evacuation Alert has been issued by the Thompson-Nicola Regional District at the Emergency Operations Centre (EOC) in Kamloops. This is not an order to leave your homes.

A wildfire is currently burning within the area north of Monte Creek and west of Pritchard, located on the north side of the South Thompson River. This wildfire is a potential threat to homes and recreational properties in the area.

This evacuation alert is being issued to notify area residents of the potential for the threat to escalate and create unsafe conditions, possibly requiring an evacuation order to be issued. It would be prudent at this time for residents to prepare to leave this area on very short notice. Evacuation of large animals should be considered at this time. This evacuation alert applies to the following areas:

• All properties northwest of Kamloops – Shuswap Road from the intersection with Pemberton Road to 4 km east of the intersection with Pinantan – Pritchard Road. This area includes all properties accessed by Pinantan – Pritchard Road from the intersection with the Kamloops – Shuswap Road to Horne Road including Pemberton Road, Warren Road and McNulty Road. (see attached map)

This alert may be followed by an order to evacuate, with more updated information on the wildfire. If and when the evacuation order is issued, you must leave your home immediately. A recommended travel route and location of the Emergency Social Services Evacuation Reception Centre will also be issued at that time.

Our family has very good friends that live on Pritchard mountain and we are extremely concerned about them and their animals. Our thoughts and Prayers are with them all at this time, hopefully mother nature will assist in dousing this mess along with the continued help of the fire department and all the volunteers, be safe to all .
