A 38 year old male from Cranbrook is currently in custody after he was found in possession of property that had been stolen from a break and enter a few days earlier.
The break and enter, which occurred in the 1800 block of Airport Way, was reported to police on November 4, 2009. The owners returned home to find their front door had been forced open. Once inside they discovered the suspect(s) stole thousands of dollars worth of jewelry. Witnesses in the area saw a suspicious vehicle depart the residence earlier in the day.
On November 7, 2009 officers observed a vehicle matching the description of the vehicle seen departing the residence. The vehicle was stopped and a male and female were arrested. A subsequent search of the vehicle located some of the stolen items from the break and enter.
The male and the 46 year old female from Lake Country are facing charges of Break and Enter, Possession of Stolen Property under $5000 and Possession of break-in instruments. The female was released from custody and will appear in Revelstoke Provincial Court on February 3, 2010 to answer to the charges. The male will appear in Salmon Arm Provincial Court later today.
