Vernon suspects arrested in attempted robbery

Vernon RCMP.

Last evening officers from the Vernon detachment arrested two male suspects after a report of an attempted robbery of a business in the Landing Plaza.

At around 5:35 yesterday afternoon (Feb 25) police were called to the insurance office in the Landing Plaza for a report of an attempted robbery. A lone male entered the office just at closing time and produced a weapon and demanded cash. There was an exchange between the employee and the suspect, resulting with the suspect running from the business without any money.

A short time later the with the assistance of the police service dog two males were located and arrested a few blocks away.

A 31year old male from Vernon remains in custody and is expected to face charges of attempted robbery and possession of an offensive weapon later today. The second male a 22 year old from Vernon has been released without charges at this time however the investigation continues.
