Second incident in Salmon Arm of pedestrian being struck by train.

At approximately 1:00 am, on Sunday September 25th, 2010, the RCMP in Salmon Arm responded to a person being struck by a train.
A Canadian Pacific train was traveling west bound, through the Raven area of Salmon Arm. Each of the conductor and the engineer noted a person kneeling on the tracks, and immediately employed emergency systems of warning signals and braking. Despite efforts of the CP crew, the person was struck by the train, and died as a result of injuries sustained in the collision.
The deceased has been identified as being 16 year old, Bradley Jackson of Salmon Arm.
The CP Police as well as the Coroner’s Service continue investigation into this matter. It is believed that the deceased was alone at the time of this incident. Foul play is not suspected, nor are intoxication issues. RCMP Victim Services have been dispatched to assist the family of the deceased.
“This is the second such death of a young person within a week in Salmon Arm. The school board has been contacted and it is anticipated that counseling will be available for students within the schools. The RCMP express condolences to the Jackson family, and suggest that youth avail themselves to the support offered” stated SSgt Kevin Keane NCOi/c of the Salmon Arm RCMP.
