Trailer for the upcoming 4th annual Golden Film Festival on March 19, 2011 (Video by Cliff Markham - http://www.ridermedia.ca )
Get your cameras rolling! The 2011 Golden Film Festival will be accepting submissions from local filmmakers of all ages. You can have a chance at winning big prizes as well as have your film(s) viewed at the festival March 19, 2011 at the Mount 7 Recreation Complex in Golden.
From its humble beginnings in 2008 as a grass-roots local film festival, the Golden Film Festival (GFF) has far exceeded the hopes and dreams of its founder and director, Cliff Markham of Rider Media, and is now one of the Columbia Valley’s most popular and widely attended cultural events, attracting audiences from all over British Columbia and Alberta.
The GFF highlights the talents of local and non-local filmmakers while promoting active lifestyles and media arts within the Kootenay – upper Columbia basin. The organizers see the festival as a positive way to promote the arts and the work of under-served local filmmakers while at the same time promoting BC interior tourism.
The films may be of any genre but must be under 20 minutes in length and 40% of the content must be shot within the Kootenays or Columbia Basin region.
All films will be judged prior to the event and a selection of approximately 20 of the top films will be shown on the evening of March 19th.
The film submission deadline is March 5, 2011 and all details may be found on the festival’s website at http://www.goldenfilmfestival.com .
Sponsors and advertisers are also needed and businesses in the area are invited to participate in making Golden Film Festival 2011 the best yet.
Monetary donations will help with promotional and operational costs and provide cash prizes to the top filmmakers, while donations of product will be raffled off and given away to the top filmmakers. Interested businesses are also invited to visit the website for sponsorship information.
