Some of the most popular programs at the Okanagan Regional Library branches each winter are especially for children. Designed to foster literacy and a love of reading at an early age, they attract children from 2 years of age upward. The programs vary from branch to branch and they are free.
The ORL has announced that its winter children’s program schedule for the 2011 season is as follows:
Salmon Arm Branch in Picadilly Mall

Preschool storytime for children aged 2-5 years is every Wednesday at 10:30am and every Saturday at 11am from January 12th until April 16th.
- Pyjama storytime for 2-5 year-olds is the last Tuesday of the month -– on January 25th, February 22nd and March 22nd at 7pm.

Sicamous Branch at Parkland Shopping Centre
- Preschool storytime for children aged 3-5 years is each Wednesday at 10am from February 2nd until April 20th.
This is a free program but registration is required so call the branch at 250-836-4845.
Enderby Branch at 514 Cliff Avenue
- Family storytime for children aged 3 years and up is each Saturday at 11am from January 15th to April 2nd.

South Shuswap Branch in Blind Bay Market
- Two sessions of preschool storytime for toddlers from 2-5 years are planned. The first is on Tuesdays from 9:30am to 10:30am from January 18th to February 22nd. The second session is on Wednesdays from 9:30am to 10:30am running from March 2nd until April 6th.
These programs are free but registration is required so contact the branch at 250-675-4818.
Note that all ORL programs for children under 3 years of age include the participation of a supervising adult, while certain preschool storytimes for children over 3 do not require an adult to participate, but to stay in the building. Check with your branch for further details.
