Shuswap Writer’s Group

Shuswap Writer’s Group (SWG) meets every first and third Wednesday of the month, 11:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. in the Board Room at the Piccadilly Mall Shopping Centre, in Salmon Arm.

SWG also hosts a coffee house, which is held every fourth Friday of the month, 7:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m., and is a venue for published and aspiring writers alike. The location is at the SASCU Downtown Activity Centre, 451 Shuswap Street, Salmon Arm, and the contact person is Chris Schon at (250) 832-0329.

Our goal is to provide mutual support in an encouraging and positive environment as our members develop and hone their writing skills.

When it is requested, feedback and evaluation of a members work will be done in an atmosphere of sincerity and empathy. As we explore the poetic world of imagination, individual goals will be respected, where one member may be committed to publish, another member may be writing for his or her personal pleasure. It is our intention to evolve as writers.

SWG publishes a book every few years, in which they incorporate short stories, excerpts from work in progress, and poetry written by its members. We are working on our fifth edition of our published work: Kaleidoscope V and intend on going to print in the near future.
